Duvall's 2-run blast dooms RiverDogs

Adam Duvall took sole possession of the league lead in home runs with a two-run 11th-inning drive, as the Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Charleston RiverDogs, 3-1, in a South Atlantic League game Saturday night in front of a crowd of 5,142 at Riley Park.

The GreenJackets (17-26) evened the four-game series at a game apiece.

Ehire Adrianza walked in front of Duvall, who launched a no-doubter off Charleston's Kelvin Perez (0-1) for his 12th round-tripper of the campaign.

Charleston (20-23) scratched out a run off Augusta's Shawn Sanford to get on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second. Kyle Roller was hit by a pitch, and eventually came around to score when Eduardo Sosa laced an opposite field single to left.

Charleston starter Jose Ramirez allowed just two hits through the first five, setting down 11 in a row during one stretch.

Drew Biery was able to get under a Ramirez fastball in the seventh, pumping his second homer of the year over the left-centerfield fence to tie the game at 1-1.

The RiverDogs loaded the bases with one out in the 10th inning, but could not cash in against GreenJackets lefty Mario Rodriguez (1-4).

Ballpark fun

A record 670 runners and walkers participated in the 8th Annual Run, Forrest, Run 5K Race and Fun Run that was held prior to the game as finishers concluded the run at home plate and were greeted by the RiverDogs.

Right-hander Mikey O'Brien (2-2, 3.07 ERA) will start for the RiverDogs today while righty Taylor Rogers (2-5, 2.58 ERA) is expected to pitch for Augusta in a 5:05 p.m. start.
